Foil systems for flat roofs

HYDRO-ISOLATION FOILS

Foils nowadays used as roofing might be of thermoplastic, elastomer and thermoplastic character or elastomer substance. All foil types are UV resistant and also resistant against root penetration etc.

Thermoplastics
Thermoplastic materials are by tensile stress deformed and therefore they do not have reversible effect. Their other characteristic is that by warmth (worm air) the material mellows that is effective for connecting individual sheets. By mellowing and mutual press of neighbour foils it perfectly joins the materials. Into this group of materials belong foils from elasticised PVC, polyolefin (PE), polyolefin-copolymer bitumen (PECB).

Elastomers
Contrary of the termoplasts, elastomers are elastic, but they cannot be activated by warmth air so the neighbour foils are connected either by adhesive or by inserted adhesive tapes. Essential materials that belong in this group of elastomer are for instance ethylene-propylene-dyne-monomer (EPDM). By combination of both groups is Thermoplastic- Elastomer producted that is elastic and tha might be welded. Here included chlorine-sulphide polyethylene (PECB).
